In this case I feel that I can get more done on the construction of the new shop faster than the contractor. Again construction has stalled, and I am at the mercy of the electrician. Despite a call to the site forman, nothing is happening fast.

Sad, as the interior could have been finished in the past week, if the electrical was done. In fact we would have completed everything and been in this week without the delay. Things are piling up, and clients have a fair sized wait…bad seeing as the shop was supposed to be done August prior the the start of our bust season!

Skate and Stuff

Well things have beeb busy as usual. Thing have not been going as fast as I would like for the shop, but things should be moving forward next week, so we will see.

Skateboarding, which has always been a passion of mine has come to the forefront again. I have picked up a few old school powell deck that I used to skate on in the mid-80’s. Powell Peralta really influenced my artwork, so I am always stocked to get some of the old school designs.

Speaking of skateboards. I have opened http://www.paininc.deckpeck.com with my skate are. Some of them I would say are influenced by earlier skate deck ideas, and of course my love for traditional native arts.

The clothing store is now reached through http://www.paininc.net and http://www.teampaininc.com

Tattoos and Torment

Well I spent the weekend at the tattoo show. Which was fun. Got a Shrunken Head Decanter from the guys at Tiki Farm, the thing is hella cool. I also picked up some new pinstriping brushes for cheaper than I would get them from my supplier. Also cool.

It is always fun to visit the show to see what others are doing. With artist like Cartoon Network’s Tyson McAdoo and great painters like Shawn Barber you can’t help but have some fun.

Now on the torment side of thing. Painincdesigns.com is still down, well the domain forwarding is down, and will likely be down for a bit longer. It has been seven days, and nothing has been fixed, despite nunerous hours and live chat talks with tech support. What is the issue? Good question, but tech support hides behind smoke and mirrors and either end a chat or send a ‘ticket resolved’ even though the problem is obviously not solved. I honestly have to ask what is a reasonable time to fix a domain to be forwarded. I would honestly think and hour or two tops. Not seven days.

Anyways you can go to the site via paininc.ca for now, as it seems to still work.

To add to my problems if you call the office at (403) 922-7585 it will ring twice and then you will get a busy signal. Why? I have no idea. In fact I will continue to have no idea, because the customer support line for my phone service rings busy. Not good. Who knows how long it has been this way, but it was a quiet five days.

So what it comes down to is that I have no phone to be called on by clients. I have no wqebsite for clients to visit. In other words, I should just go on vacation, because any way I look at it, it is going to be a slow month.

Colour, and Pinstripes

I have been working on my colourist portfolio, as well as working on a tutorial. I am working on a Death Dealer piece, and instead of blasting through it, I have been trying to articulate how I go about photoshoping the pieece. Funny thing is that some stuff that I “just do” is hard to put into words, especially since I am essentially a self taught digital art guy.

On the other side of the spectrum, I have been working on my pinstriping. It is definately something that I want to dedicate more of my day to working on. I always find it amazing how fast old school painters can work, and how the imagery flows from the brush for them. While my designs are intially sketches, my hopes are to start free flowing designs in the near future. Once the new shop is finished, I think the first project will be my car.

Sealtech Sign and Construction Blues

Well things are moving along with the Sealtech sign, and hopes are to get it cleared in the next day.

I always start my day with a plan, somedays the plan works, other days it goes to hell in a hand basket. Well today is a hand basket day.

Plan, go to camera store to pick up lights, and transparency film. Reality is that people actually get days off on long weekends when there boss isn’t me. So a trip to the other end of the earth resulted, in me finding out that this is the only day that the store is closed. Other than Christmas Day and New Years Day. Dammit!

Fine enact Plan B, I heard that the Art store had some original Goddard paintings. Cool. Gotta go look, and snap some pics. With my trust iPhone I go, his stuff is hella cool. For those of you who don’t know his work, it always includes olives and martini glasses. Snap a couple pics with the iPhone and… nothing. Seems that the phone apps no longer wish to function. Typically, another stop that I will revisit, due to technical difficulties.

Plan C – go to Staples and get a few magazine boxes. Sold out of the kind I like but you can buy these other ones for 5 times the price. No thanks.

Plan D – get the screens burnt for the new shirts and get printing. Seeing with no lights I am not setting up for photos today. Partial success. I realize that my squeegees are smaller than the design. I need larger one, guess what my supplier is closed.

This goes down as a poor day at best, but lessoned learned. Sometimes I should just take a day off, like everyone else.

Joker and Comedy

Since Batman Begins I have actually enjoyed watching the Bat on the big screen.

Going to the film was a good way to break up my day. I have been working on a a few different shirt designs for “Don’t Mind Us Comedy” a Canadian stand-up comedy duo. It has been interesting, as I have had a little direction, “they want shirts”. So I went with simple. Hopefully they will like at least one of the three shirt designs I sent them.
